چکیده

Traditionally, speaker authenticationhas focused on two categories of techniques: speaker verification and speaker identification. In this paper, we introduce a third category called verbal information verification (VIV) in which a claimed speaker’s utterances are verified against the key information in the speaker’s registered profile to decide whether the claimed identity should be accepted or rejected. The proposed VIV technique can be used independently or combined with the traditional speaker verification techniques to achieve flexible and improved speaker authentication. Instead of accomplishing VIV through recognizing the key information, the proposed VIV algorithm is based on the concept of sequential utterance verification. In a telephone speaker authentication experiment on 100 speakers and using three pass-utterances in response to three categories of questions, the proposed VIV system achieved 0.00% equalerror rate, compared to 30% false rejection rate on an automatic speech recognition approach.

Speaker verification using verbal information verification for automatic enrolment

A conventional speaker verification (SV) system needs an enrollment session to collect the training data. In [I], we introduced a speaker authentication method called verbal information ven$cation (VIV) which verifies a speaker by verbal contents instead of speech characteristics. Such a system does not need an enrollment session. In this paper, VIV is combined with SV. We propose a system whic...

The evocative power of words: activation of concepts by verbal and nonverbal means.

A major part of learning a language is learning to map spoken words onto objects in the environment. An open question is what are the consequences of this learning for cognition and perception? Here, we present a series of experiments that examine effects of verbal labels on the activation of conceptual information as measured through picture verification tasks. We find that verbal cues, such a...

Motor Simulation and Verbal Association in Idiom-Idiom Verification: Effects of Imageability

Two experiments were conducted to test the hypothesis that motor simulation contributes to the processing of idioms. A semantic interference paradigm was applied. Critically, imageability of idioms was manipulated. Results of the experiments suggested that processing of highly imageable idioms involved motor simulation in both meaning and familiarity verification tasks. However, low-imageable i...

Using Exciting and Spectral Envelope Information and Matrix Quantization for Improvement of the Speaker Verification Systems

Speaker verification from talking a few words of sentences has many applications. Many methods as DTW, HMM, VQ and MQ can be used for speaker verification. We applied MQ for its precise, reliable and robust performance with computational simplicity. We also used pitch frequency and log gain contour for further improvement of the system performance.
